Hey scotty, you'll probably wanna kill me for this one but i am looking at a used 2003 chevy blazer with 111,000 miles on it and an automatic. Private seller, friend of friend, he says they were tired of having a money sink and want to get rid of it (he said they put 3k into it) It does have problems of course because its a blazer, but it is fairly cheap at 800 compared to 3-4k with 200k miles on any car listings we found of the same year. My current situation leaves me in a tight spot without a car and a job, (need a car for a job and need a job for a car right?) The thing needs work but at 800 it leaves some amount of wiggle room, put in a 1000 dollars and its still less than 2k is my reasonings. Code said there was a misfiring and the guy said he needed to change the gear box and theres some minor electrical weirdness(radio doesn't turn off when driver side door opens but does for passenger side etc etc) . I used one of your 'what to look for' guides and it came up mostly clean, no tailgate smoke no rust it got up over 70 comfortably. I know you have a major problem with these cars but financially i don't have much else to go for right now and i gotta get things moving. My question is do you think it'd be an Alright leapfrog kind of car? Gotta get something going and the budget is a bit of a joke, i think im just asking for your blessing
Anyway love your show, you've helped me change alot of crap in my cars that would've cost way too much, have a good one
it's a heap of junk. Anything more than scrap steel value is too much.
Save your money and wait for something that actually runs.
