1998 Buick LeSabre Limited, auto, 140,000KM. Hey Scotty, I have a 1998 Buick LeSabre that I'm taking off the road but I spotted an identical car at a Kenny U-Pull. Much better shape, runs and drives, 140,000, I couldn't find anything wrong with it but I noticed a receipt in the glove box from a shop less than a year ago for a coolant flush. I popped the coolant cap and the fluid was topped up but it seemed abit oily to me. Should I be concerned? I'm hesitant to buy even though its in really good shape but the fact its sitting at a yard waiting to be scrapped has me wondering. Lots of other reciepts in the glove box like new quick struts, oil changes, seems like the car was well maintained.

Well it's in the junkyard for a reason so buying it would be a huge gamble.

If there is truly oil getting into the coolant, Id wonder if there is a leak in the head allowing coolant and oil to mix. Thats a rather huge risk because repair costs involved in pulling the head are intensive. Hard pass.

Thanks for the responses. I took the car in for an inspection and got a list back...alot of things that added up so I decided to walk away from this one. Will be a good parts car for my other Buick though! Body on it was as clean as a new car, very well taken care of and I'm only out a few bucks for a pre inspection.
