I had made my mind up on a 2012-13 Corolla S but test drove one and it’s a bit cramped for me. I hadn’t looked at Camrys much as I’ve always heard about oil consumption issues. And apparently transmission issues? I like the 2012-2014 years because they seem to have the least amount of problems from the transmission. Is there anyway to know if the one I’m looking at has had the torque converter TSB completed? I’m taking it to my mechanic friend either way. Any other very common issues to look out for on that year? I’m hoping to be done looking of these year camrys aren’t plagued with problems.
I should also add. Engine option limited to 4cyl. Ease of maintenance and better fuel eco. Seems to have less issues as well.
I think Toyota will tell you if the torque converter has been replaced under the extended warranty if you give them the VIN.
So just call the service department at a dealer and have them search the vin?

You have mech so he can give a goodish yes/no. I suspect he'd do so during his drive to see if he can intentionally get it to shutter. If it doesn't that's the important part but if he can't get it to do it, likely it's been done. Mention to him and ditto on 4 cyl based on your needs (easier maintenance, better mpg, less issues and cheaper to repair).
Do you know when Toyota went to the 8 speed automatic transmission?
From 2017 and up (both A25A-FKS 2.5L I4 and 2GR-FKS 3.5L V6)
Thank you. 2012-2016 is my search area then.
