Diagnostics tool

I'm currently looking for a high grade diagnostic tool, my budget is around $1000.

I was looking at the launch 431 v pro and the autel mp808ts.

Other than running active test, some coding, making key fobs for early 2000 cars, having tpms installation functions is important as well.

Do you have any recommendations?

The best diagnostic tool is your brain and a college course in deductive logic.

I have the MP808 (not the wireless) and so far so good. But I have only used it on my 2000 F350 Powerstroke.

Autel make a variety of Professional grade Scan tools right in that price rang and up. Look at the Maxisys 906BT it has everything you are looking for and then some. You can buy it off of Amazon also. I have a couple of Autel Units at my shop and they are well worth the money.

So far let me say thanks to each one of you who provided me a recommendation. I looked into each one.

The launch is great, I ike the that its a full functional andriod tablet and has 2 years of updates.

And the 906bt is slightly better at coding than the 808bt, other than that the 906 has better hardware, screen and battery.

But the one thing they all lack is the tpms antenna to program tpms.

For the price point the the mp808ts seem good since it has that antenna. The 906ts seems just to expensive.

Is their a launch tool that has a tpms antenna built in?

I’d recommend the Autel MP808TS.

Since you are buying an expensive scan tool ($1,000 or so), I strongly recommend you buy from one of the company’s authorized dealers if you care about support, service, and warranty, and to make sure you don’t get scammed.  Some of those expensive ones from Amazon and other non-authorized sites are not North American models and if you need to have it serviced you have to send to China!  Amazon is NOT an authorized dealer for Autel.  Also, if the warranty expires you can always renew it later which will provide software updates as well as cover you for any hardware issues.  With a non-North American unit from a non-authorized dealer you may be out of luck.

Your choice at the end of the day, and you may get lucky buying from Amazon or elsewhere without issues (while saving money), but why risk it on a $1,000+ tool?

Update: I just contacted Autel North America to see which of their dealers carry the MaxiPro MP808 and MP808TS and they said:

“ The MP series Autel tools are not Authorized US tools, so no Authorized US dealer will be carry them.”

So you will have to deal with overseas if you have issues later.

Up to you what you want to do, but I personally would not get the tool in light of that. If it was a $100 tool that is one thing and I’d just get from Amazon.

Thank you it didn't cross my mind about the warranty. I'll have to be careful with that in mind.

I got e-mail from Autel North America on their authorized scan tool list.  Here is what they said:  (Quote)

“The list of authorized diagnostic tablets [in North America] is short.

MX808
MX808TS
TS608
MS906BT
MS906TS
MS908 (includes the P, S, and S Pro)
Elite
MS909
MS919
Ultra
IM508
IM608

Anything that is MP or MK is not a US tool. Also the abaove tools can be sold by unAuthorized US dealers can will NOT receive warranty or support from Autel US. They will also not be able to bypass the security gateway in 2018+ Chrylser vehicles.“

Very helpful information! I'll probably spend more on the ms906ts to be safe.
Also thanks for the thought, I'll email Autel and ask them if the vendors I find online are actually authorized.

@Josh.v -this is who I used when I bought my Autel tool (MX808)
https://www.aeswave.com/

The nice part about them is you can get help from them (technical help) after the sale.

If you want to save a little you can also get get from tire rack.com, they are an authorized dealer and sell the MS906TS as well.

FYI, here is the list of authorized vendors:

Thank you so much for the help, I'll look into those links.

@Josh.v - If you buy from Walmart.com, make sure the seller is Walmart only! (Sometimes Walmart sells those tools themselves). Walmart.com is like Amazon.com and there are lots of Autel sellers (that are non-authorized and bases overseas) - avoid those sellers for very expensive scan tool.
