Hello I have a question about EGR systems I have a 2002 PT cruiser with about 140,000 miles I replace the EGR valve and the EGR control solenoid when I originally smoke tested the car smoke came out of the EGR control valve so I replaced the EGR valve and the EGR control valve and when I retested the system smoke came out of the new EGR control valve the same as the old one is this supposed to happen or did I do something wrong

did you turn the solenoid on and off?

I have been trying to chase down a vacuum clean while performing a smoke test the only place smoke came from was the EGR solenoid so I removed the solenoid and I did check with two jumper wires to the solenoid and did not hear a click so with the smoke test and no click I assumed it was bad so I replaced the original EGR valve itself and the EGR solenoid and I assumed both pieces were new so I did not check them and when I did a second smoke check after changing the parts a small amount of smoke again came from the EGR solenoid I don't know if this is normal or did I just have bad luck and get a faulty part

well test them to make sure. sometimes you can have more than one problem.

Yes I am planning on retesting the parts and I was just hoping maybe do you know any other tests I might be able to do to help isolate this I'm just reaching out because I'm not sure what to do
