2000 Toyota tundra, V8, 300,000 miles, I only drive it occasionally for east towing.

I have a check engine light on for a “engine knock censor”.

is this worth fixing?

engine does sputter a bit, I’m not wanting to spend a lot here…..

Go ahead and replace it with another OEM sensor. It's fairly cheap, all it is, is a glorified microphone. Your engine may run better, too.

It's pronounced "sensor", for future reference. To "censor" means to filter, etc. It's used when people swear on TV, for example.

Thanks Justin! Ya, grammar and spelling , definitely not my strong suite ;);)

engine does sputter a bit,

there can be numerous causes. what is the misfire count, fuel pressure, etc.

Here is what came up when I pulled the codes:

-P0171
-P0420
-P0325 knock censor 1 circuit bank 1

you need to fix the 1st code first.

And what about the sensor ?

Well  that's why I said look up the WHOLE code, not just the name of the sensor. (check obd-codes.com)

And you're right... it is a malfunction.

P0325 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction

1. Check the resistance of the knock sensor (compare it to factory specs)
2. Check for broken/frayed wires leading to the sensor
3. Check for continuity in the wiring from the PCM to the knock sensor wiring connector
4. Replace the knock sensor
