Engine takes longer than usual to reach normal operating temperature

Good day! I have a 2006 Honda Civic with 243,000+ kms and recently I’ve noticed that the engine takes longer than usual to get to normal operating temperature and once in a while the temp gauge goes down while driving. So i checked under the hood and found that the lower radiator hose is leaking coolant so i replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses, thermostat and radiator cap. It’s not leaking coolant anymore but the engine still takes a while before it reaches its normal operating temp. I scanned it but there’s no code found. What could be the problem? Please help

Since you have a scanner, check the coolant temp sensor, is stat working, etc?

Your coolant temperature might be bad. Do you have any check engine light?

The only way to confirm is to connect a scanner to the obd port and look at the data.

You could replace it, but without the appropriate diagnosis you’d be guessing.

It’s not that expensive a part, good luck....

There’s no check engine light. I have a bidirectional OBDII scanner and i scanned the vehicle but there’s no code found. Now i don’t know where to start looking for a fix because its really hard to guess at this point

The thermostat might be faulty or you may have some air in the system.

I already replaced the thermostat and bled the air in the system but it still takes time to warm up

Yes, I read you changed the thermostat, and I said it may be faulty.

You may have a bad temperature sending unit (not sensor).  Check it for corrosion and replace.  Remember, SENDING unit, not sensor.

I’d check both....

how much longer? It is winter time, and if you jump in and put your heater on max, then it will take longer for the engine to warm up.
