First car as a 22 year old

Hello guys! I was considering buying a car and hold on to it for roughly 5 years or so because I wanna buy a newer one after I get a good job when I graduate (I’ll be graduating in 22) and I have a budget of like 6k or so and I wanna ask what’s the highest mileage I should be fine with? I do understand that mileage isn’t the main standard but it’s one of the few things that stand out and with my budget most cars are in highs of 100k mileage (I was recommended to keep an eye on Civics which I have) so what do you guys think? What’s the max mileage I should consider?

Corolla, Camry, Civic, Accord some years to avoid but all in all do your research get one with no more than 110 120k miles and you should be fine.

For Example listings like a 2013 Honda Civic w/90k miles in good shape could be a nice buy (assuming mechanic says it is good).

where I am, I can find cars under 100,000mi in your budget. But the car market is different in every city, and it changes season to season.

You just have to look and look and look. Shop the lots. Scour Craigslist. Then you will have an idea of what your money can buy in your area.

Hy!

For 5 years you can buy almost anything under 100k miles. Buying cars for a lot more years is another story.

Whatever you will pick, test it. If you will like it, take it to a mechanic to check it.

Good luck!

Civics, Camrys, Accords, and Corollas are the best options for that price range. I don’t think you’ll find a Corolla or Civic newer than 2012 for that price though. With the Camrys, it’s even worse because I see 2009 Camrys going for almost $10k in my area. The max mileage I’d go would be 120k miles if you plan to keep it for 5 years but it also depends on how much you drive. If you can find a civic with a manual transmission, that would be the absolute best thing, if you know how to drive a manual without murdering the clutch
