Howdy! First time looking to fix my own problem. I have a 2017 Nissan Altima with a CVT transmission. I know I know, but I got it before I started watching the channel! Anyways its started misbehaving. The acceleration acts like its permanently got overdrive off. I can fix the issue instantly by shutting the car off and turning it back on.

How many miles, and have you changed the transmission fluid?
Just over 74,000 miles. I have not changed the transmission fluid yet. First step?
definitely change the CVT tranny fluid (generally you should do it every 30 000 miles), a lot of people don't maintain those CVTs, especially the Nissan CVTs properly and the next thing you know the CVT craps out and it's gonna cost a fortune for a new one. Even tho the Jatco CVTs are somewhat weak, they are better than they were before. I have been seeing them cross 300k miles.
@infinitifxfan this isn't where answers go. c'mon man
I still appreciate the help xd
oh mb joe
Did you accidentally hit the O/D button on the shifter?
Looks like the overdrive light flashed on the left side of the tachometer.
I hit it several times near the end to show the vehicle seems to be getting stuck in that mode.
I would get the car scanned before throwing money into fluid and things cause that’s not cheap and you don’t want to be throwing money away. If you were to contact Nissan corporate it may be covered under a warranty extension on those cars on the cvt’s amd sometimes they will even cover them on a good will basis
