I have a 2000 Ford Ranger XL 2WD 3.0l Flex with around 230k on the clock 5 speed manual trans.
Recently I had the clutch (along with its accompanying parts) and slave cylinder replaced. I left from the place it was repaired at and 2 days later it was getting hard to shift, then the pedal dropped to the floor, this is when I found out about the dreaded plastic clip Ford (along with some GM and Chrysler) has that attaches the clutch pedal to the slave cylinder. I purchased a Dorman brand replacement and the clip has broke once again, it will go where it is supposed to go but it freely slides off the stub sticking out from the pedal.
So 2 questions....ONE Are the FORD OEM retainer clips any better quality?
TWO...Is there a permanent fix for this? I am loosing my sanity dealing with this every time I drive it and I use it for work.
Thank you
Try the Ford OEM ones but it's just a poor design cheap Ford crap they used to make them good but they make them like junk now the main reason they do that is cuz cheaper to make them that way and much cheaper to build them because they don't have to thread the clutch line on like a regular brake line that would be threaded and you need a wrench to tighten it up just cheap manufacturing quality
