Hi Scotty,
New to your channel! Glad to find it! I gather you don't like hybrids? However, wondered what your thought was on a Ford C-max (non energi as read energi has higher battery degredation compared to standard hybrid) as a daily driver around town, and we'd likely keep it for 6 to 7 years? I know it is not a prius in terms of that usual toyota longevity, but with the cmax's being discontinued, the price seems to be dropping compared to prius'. I am finding a lot of 2016 and 2017s with very low miles--anywhere from 16k-32k. Reviews seem fairly favorable for 2016 and up (2013, 14, and maybe 15 seemed to have had a bad transmission). I have read reviews that ford fusion hybrids/escape hybrids (same system as cmax?) have run till 500k in New York as daily taxi vehicles, and seen many fusion hybrid owners discuss problem free well into the 200k+ range. My mother's own fusion hybrid (2010) minus some wear and tear has done very well and she has almost 200k. But I am not sure if that is the exception?
P.S. I am also looking at Fusion Hybrids (assume depending on your answer about C-Max it would applicable to it as well).
Thanks!
Hybrids have more technology that tend to burn wallets as they age. With Toyota hybrids this can happen 150-250k miles. As for Ford, I wouldn't be recommending their regular passenger cars, let alone a hybrid. Ford doesn't care to make a good car, especially in the last decade, and they don't know how to make a hybrid. They just don't. As for the hybrids in NY, we have a previous thread about Escape hybrids and their taxi longevity, but in short commerical use is a whole different topic. They rarely have the original powertrain at that mileage. They have different more severe maintenance... The question is, a large taxi company may have $10,000 to put into a 15 year old Ford, but do you?
