Ford Fiesta 1.6L Zetec S Timing Belt

Hi Scotty,

I have a 2010 Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.6L engine with 60,000 miles on the clock. I bought it used so I assume the timing belt and water pump haven't been changed in the past. I was wondering if it has an interference engine or not? If it does, would it be worth changing the timing belt and water pump now or should it last a little longer? Don't want to ruin the engine with a snapped timing belt!

Many thanks,

George

If its an SOHC (single overhead cam) engine then yes it is an interference engine.

If its an DOHC (double overhead cam) engine then no, it is a non-interference.

Your owners manual would tell you this, or it,s likely to be stamped on the rocker cover too.

Regardless of the above, Ford recommend a TB and WP change every 100,000 miles or ten years so it is due.
