Hi Scotty,
I have a service related question. I own a 2017 Toyota Prius and it’s got 105k miles. I take it to a local auto shop that I trust for major services. At around 120k miles the spark plugs will need to be replaced as part of a regular maintenance service. The auto shop owner recommends performing a fuel injection cleaning service with the spark plug replacements. Would you recommend the fuel injection cleaning service as well?
Thank you in advance.
By the way, I appreciate you making your YouTube videos. VERY HELPFUL!!!
I wouldn't bother, if your Prius is running fine and there's no check engine light on (check your fuel trims with a scanner, LTFT and STFT to really know if the injectors may be dirty, STFT will alternate +/- 1-2% from 0, LTFT should be close to 0, +/- 1-3% or so is fine). Those jobs are an easy way to make $150 for shops and aren't really necessary, as long as you're using decent gas. All gasoline has a minimum fuel standard for detergent in the U.S. but Top Tier brands allegedly have more of them.
