Why are GM brakes wimpy

I was a Chevy girl until I discovered Mazda. In the mid-90s I bought an old rusted up 1978 Chevy Nova. That was an adventure. Later I bought an 87 Chevy Cavalier, followed by an 86 Chevy Celebrity and lastly the 98 Chevy Lumina. I enjoyed each car and the engines would last forever. Then in December 2008, I bought a brand new 2009 Mazda 3.

That’s when I realized the beauty of brakes. I could stop when I wanted. In my Chevys it was a mystery as to when the car would stop. I always gave myself an abundant amount of space to stop.

Why are the brakes in Chevys so weak and wimpy? Will GM ever get brakes where you can stop on a dime?

By the way, my husband introduced me to your YouTube channel and we enjoy listening together.

Nova, Cavalier, Celebrity, and Lumina!!!?  Just need the Corsica and Citation and youll have the whole collector set. No wonder you got used to squishy brakes.

I haven't had issues, but I haven't driven any GM older than 91/92.

The Mazda3 is a pretty light car.

They already have.  I can only speak for their performance vehicles like the Corvette, Camaro, Cadillac ATS, CTS, CT4, CT5 sedans.   Some of the braking performance in these vehicles is world class.
