Been looking for a long time, and saw good review from a master toyota tech..so I pulled the trigger and got a Xtool D7. works great for me. helped me diagnose my problem with my es300h. has lot's of functionality, bi-directional testing, live data, etc.

Hi, thanks for your input.
Looking into Xtool D7 - looks really promising - has good solid reviews on YT. ( 3 years free updates )
What worries me is that their support is via @hotmail, company with such a nice good family of tools should have their own domain.
Thanks

DayWalker - Thank you for the links with your posts. Very helpful.
I like to buy a tool from time to time for the money i save by doing some repairs on my own.
Two transmission fluid changes and there is price of my scanner (or close to it).
At this moment all I need is to read transmission fluid temp - leaning towards INNOVA 5610 - right now can't find much more details on MaxiDIAG MD808 Pro in reference to my car. Innova has a nice COVERAGE CHECKER. Any thoughts on 5610 vs MD808. Most likely both are overkill for me but..
Dealer quoted 499 for transmission fluid flush ( if I change it 2 -3 times besides transfer case oils) - there is price of the tool. And hopefully I would never have to use it for anything else.
Thanks again.

The Autel MD808 will scan all vehicle computer systems as the Autel MX808 (the one I own) so it will measure your transmission temperature. The MD808 has lifetime free updates whereas the MX808 you have to pay for them after one year (but can still use the tool just fine without updates of course).

However, for a little bit more money I would go with the Innova 5610 since it has bi-directional capability which is a BIG plus (which you may need at some point - better to have than not) and also has free lifetime updates. The company is headquartered in Irvine, CA and has been really responsive to all my questions.  Plus you can buy direct from them unlike Autel.  I have no problems recommending the Innova 5610 over the Autel MD808 or MX808.

Please see bellow, I'd get something that can accesses the transmission system - although on many cars you can read the transmission fluid temp just with a regular OBDII connection using it's live data feature.

For that reason, I would stick with a company that has an office in your region (so for example in the US both Innova and Autel have offices and I have easily gotten email back from them answering my questions).  Also, go with a company that is not a recent start-up because who knows how long they will last.  Also, whichever tool you get - please get from them direct (if they offer it) or from an authorized distributor.  Amazon is not always authorized to sell and there are a ton of scammers out there.  You don’t want to spend a lot of money for a tool that ends up being a dead paper weight over time because something malfunctions, and then you can’t reach out to the company (over in China) to address it.  Buyer beware!  If something is too good to be true, it usually it is (and/or you find out the drawbacks later).
