Help with Honda Civic 1993

I have been trying to fix this Honda Civic 93, new tires new alternator and new battery, however after been in our garage for a little more than a year It now shows 2 codes 3 and 7 been for the manifold absolute pressure and throttle position sensor, the car starts and revs but doesn’t accelerate when set to drive, i just replaced the map sensor however that code still appears, and I am looking for some advice how to calibrate the tps sensor before getting a new one, and are those sensors the only culprits for the codes? Or could it be anything else causing that?

It could easily have a wiring a computer problem acting like that there's no resetting you need to do on those old clunkers the computers aren't even programmable

Hey diego good taste on that 93 civic, those were featured on the first fast n the furious movie hijacking a truck ;). The TPS sensor can be tested and calibrated by connecting a multi meter to the correct pins and looking for a 0.5v signal at a fully closed position and 4.5v at fully open with a gradual increase between the two as you pull on the throttle cable. The second one, the MAP sensor is trickier. They can accumulate a build-up over time like any other sensor. Autozone sells specially formulated sprays to clear up that part. Past that you may be looking at a vacuum leak. MAP means Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor so there could be some vacuum line or gasket failing causing the pressure inside of the intake manifold to fall out of whack.

 

One more thing that may be specific to EG and EK civics like yours 92-2000. In the dash cluster you should see an illuminated light border around the D4 as you set it in to drive from park. If this light is illuminating around the border for "P" park but not d4 then it could mean that your shift cables  for the automatic transmission need adjusting. When those wear out your shift lever will go from park to some vague in between neutral position that causes problems, at least in the eyes of the ECU.
