Hyundai Santa Fe issues

It is my mothers vehicle and has right about 140,000 miles but she is now 76 yrs old and even when she bought it new she drove it like she was 85 years old. It has always had regular services and just all over well taken care of. it goes from home to church on Sundays, and then home to church on a few weekdays to volunteer at the food pantry the church runs. And that is only about 5 miles at most from home. Every now and then Like less than 20 times it has gone to n=Nashville to Dr appointments for he and my father. They took it to the shop they use for most the repair work to have it all gone over and were going to have all replaced of whatever it needed as she doesnt really want a new car in due to the over pricing and the horrid quality that has been coming out. (My dad went and bought a when new 1019 Tacoma TRD crew cab but with the full 6 foot bed, took awhile for him to find one) so he should be good on having a vehicle but when my om took hers in they recommended a few things nothing major and replaced those couple things.  Think total was less than 400 dollars with the full checkup and fix whatever they found wrong. Then they went and got new tires and an alignment. But about 4 months ago they left to go to church and as soon as they left the driveway the transmission went into a feeling of having no gears there. No grinding or crunching noises. Just revved up. they stopped and then took back off and it will drive 1st gear then f it doesnt go into revving (which usually only happens when you first start out and engine is cold also going uphill those two combined seems to make it do the no gear issue) But then once it starts going it will go into second stay there longer than it should then jump sort of hard into rd gear and just stay there. Even if you stop at a light or a sign it takes off in third gear. Until you turn it off then it will go back and start the whole thing over again. I did turn on a check engine light and if you clear it it will shift fine for just a few second until it gets a load and then it goes into failure again. We took it to the shop who did the check up on it and they said within just a few minutes the transmission is bad and just needs a new one, can't be any other issues according to them. So My parents gave them a full okay for them to replace the transmission but they have not been able to find one in the 4 months might even be 5 months. And they refuse to check anything else or explain the code to us like what it is or means and why it works fine if it is cleared out until the rans gets under a load and begins having the issue again. I am sure you don't want to do a transmission change (but if you want to you can do it and we will pay you instead of the shop we have been waiting for them to find a transmission. They made us take the vehicle back home (until they find a new transmission, but almost seems they don't want to work on it) We have called a few time (just to make sure it hasn't been forgotten as my mother really needs a vehicle as both her and my father have medical issues and have Dr appointments and other errands they need to do as my dad has a mini farm he does so he needs his truck lots of the time when my mom might need to go get things such as groceries. My dad had to go to hospital two weeks ago in middle of night via ambulance and had to stay in for a week then released and then they called later that day and told him it was a mistake and he needed to come back as soon as he could get back, and my mother was out in the truck so she had to drop everything and get him and take him back to hospital. They both are either 76 or 77 yrs of age and my mom worked as a RN in the hospital and also worked as an EMT and in the ER in Phoenix while going to school to become an RN. My father was in Navy and served in nuclear submarines then got out and became an engineer and now deserve to relax and not worry about vehicle issues. But my mother just doesnt want to buy a new vehicle. And it's strange how people treat these Hyundai Sante Fe like they stole them and never take care of them and get like 300,000 thousand miles on the transmissions, my mom drives just a few miles a few times a week and used to take my niece and nephews to school and pick them up and never had the RPM over 1700 and brakes never needed to be replaced as she actually drives the way they make it sound the little old lady in the movies does. But she really does! I was wondering is there any way i could have you look at it and give a possible diagnosis on it and also if it really does need a transmission do you know of places you or we could order from and try and get one ourselves and then have you or that repair shop replace it. Also I saw you were trying to do some series of doing regular work to older not classic cars that people may buy to get to work and get by without having to buy new one, as they may not have the money. I have a 98 Dodge Durango and I already put a new transmission in it about 4000 miles ago and then the transfer case went out. I had it replaced also with a new one and within 2200 miles it went out (but the warranty wouldn't cover it as the time was over, it had been over 5 years as I have back issues and some muscular issues where I am in pain almost 24 hours a day lots of the time, so I didn't drive it hardly at all) so I went and had another shop put another new transfer case in it. But then the water pump went out and with so many mechanics complaining of how they don't know how h=they will be able to stay being mechanics or keep their shops open due to all the new tech and computers infiltrating every bit of vehicles nowadays. But they I could not find anyone who wanted to do the water pump on my Durango it has the 5.9l 360 engine in it and the all talked about how the bolts are long and go through the timing cover and it will leak if they dont take it all apart and replace the timing gasket also and 1 shop agreed to do it but wanted 1300 dollars and would have been a 2 to 3 month wait (it was covid times though). I found another and he offered to do it (plus I knew him from a engine shop he used to work at back when I did some amature drag racing) he agreed to do it for I think around 450 dollars and I told him while there just go ahead and change the timing chain (even though I know they really don't go out. But he had it apart pretty much to do it, and my truck is at 160,000 miles.) But I went back a few months later just to get an oil change and have plugs and wires ap and button all replaced. And when I picked it up it had a check engine light on he told me it was a sensor on the passenger side by the firewall. So I brought it back a week or so later and he replaced it and the light was not out. But on way home the light came back on and it actually in traffic shut off. I started it back up and it ran rough for a few seconds. That happened a couple more time where when coming to a stop it would shut off runs rough when restarted and light just stays on. He said the sensor is bad and says he didn't replace any sensor. Even though he was the one who brought my attention to it and did change it. So now I am thinking it is a parts thing as lots of these new parts from China and Mexico are having issue right out of the box. But I need to have the check engine light fixed and maybe have it gone over and see if anything else is needing to be repaired. And thought maybe it might fit into a part of your series of not new but decent older vehicles that need little work to get to great running standards. And I could pay you for it. As it is strange all these shops complain cars are too technical to work on but then don't want to work on mine for some reason. I call them and tell them the year and model annnd they just change tune and seem they can't wait to get me off the phone. Maybe they think I can't pay? I just don't like any new vehicles enough to want to put monty into them. But even if you don't want to do anything on my Durango is there anyway please you could help in any way with my mothers Sante Fe transmission issue. Even if you just can recommend a few places we could try and get a new or rebuilt transmission from. Even if they bring it in a semi and need forklift delivery or loading dock only, we have a tractor with forks on the front and can lift anything a forklift can and I live right off Exit 11 off I 24 and the neighborhood has wide roads and circle around with no dead ends that would have to be used. I really hope you see this and sorry it is written so long, but I wanted to give all the info to you that I could think of. And also wanted to let you know about my Durango in case it might be something you would maybe want to fix the sensor and maybe look at what else might be going on with it. Its runs good, and rust free. Has a flowmaster 40 series so not loud but sounds decent. doesnt smoke and has been taken well care of. I have an email I just made as i dont know if this will come up to you under the email I joined with so I made [personal information redacted]

A few things...

For future reference when posting, please use the subject line for a short description, not lengthy details of the problem. (Title edited.)

A large, dense, rambling block of text with no breaks is very difficult to get through. Best prospects for assistance are obtained with a clear, concise description of the car problem, with one problem in each posted topic per forum rules.

It's a bit hard to tell but it appears you want to make an appointment with Scotty while he is in Clarksville? Information for making an appointment can be found in the site FAQ.

Thank you.
