If a 6 cylinder Highlander from 2008-2010 does not already have a towing package installed, and I want to tow a fairly light trailer (bare weight 17oo#), several questions:
1. Can it be added to any models? Which?
2. Must it be a dealer install? Or can aftermarket work fine?
3. If aftermarket, what is really needed for towing?
4. Rough cost of package purchase and install?
you can't really just add it on it this is changing of the gears inside the differential and a transmission all kinds of stuff that isn't easy to do without major mods
I’m confused. I thought a towing package on a Highlander merely added a hitch and additional cooling for engine and transmission. Apparently not. Transmission and differential changes make it a no go for me. Either find one with the package installed during manufacturing or find a 4Runner. Do all of them tow?
