Scotty,

My mother has a grey or what was grey 2007 Honda Civic and she brought brand new, she uses it in town with 65K miles on it, over the years the paint has peeled and faded away and the car looks like it has a million miles on it, My dad who is disabled has a white 2020 Honda CRV and she drives it in town 95% of the time with the 1.5 turbo in it. I have a friend of mine that also has a 2009 Black Honda Civic with the same paint fading peeling issue, Honda won't take responsibility for the paint problem and it is an obvious defect, but the rest of the car looks great. Please Help! My mother's Civic is located in Exeter, RI and I'm the son that lives in North Kingstown, RI.

Tell you what if you could bring it over here one afternoon during the weekday I could set up a schedule I'd make a video on it maybe Honda would do something then they don't like billions of people seeing their mistakes that they don't clear up

They already have, cars after 2012 the problems went away, it all got swept under the rug, but won't fix her problem and my friends 2009 Honda Civic it's black paint faded from roof. They are both mechanically good cars, they want to keep them, just wanted it fixed properly. Ask the guy with his Civic SI on the video that was done yesterday if he repainted it? Same year and color as mu mom's.

Thank you, I just talked with my mom, she said the Honda Dealer offered 50% off the regular price of the paint job, she said she would be happy with a cheap paint job, if it was my car, I'd email Scotty and film it, but she doesn't want to do that. I explained to her is they have to sand off what's left of the old paint, to do it properly they would have to put a primer on after they sand it off, let the primer dry off, then put on a layer of grey paint, then probably a second layer after the first layer dries off, I mean she bought that brand new, I'd rather see her have it done right. As Scotty would probably say 50% of the cost that Honda will pay it's like them saying yeah we messed up, but it's half our fault. Back then I believe it was brand new 2007 $19-21K car, it has been very reliable and served my parents well, she's using that as a backup car now anyway, my parents have a 2020 Honda CR-V it's been fantastic actually. I'll be ready to get a car probably in December when the dealer reduces the prices for January's inventory, Scotty did mention that Mazda and Toyota are joining forces, I may look into a 2-4 year old Mazda 3 sedan or hatchback, my budget will be $15K. Honda does make good engines, they had problems with the turbo beginning of last year, now the fuel pump, then the paint scandal back then, yes they make good machines but I rather personally have a car made by the Japanese only.

@Gibson1980 Kinda sucks that your mom is not convinced by your statement.

Most of the time dealers will always mess up on something they never done before.

Scotty,

Also I don't think they are the only persons both my friend and my mother with the Honda paint gate problem, mention this please when you do your questions and answers, I think the more people that speak up about it, more I think it should be fixed. Honda KNOWS they messed up BADLY on the paint. Usually up here in Rhode Island when you re-register a car shows the color of the vehicle, if color is faded off then legally it's not that color, on the plus side none of those 2 cars 2007 and 2009 have any rust on them, at least the metal is held up a lot better.
