I recently bought a 08 honda fit for $3000 with 158,000. I don't know the maintenance history of the car but it runs fine and doesn't trip any codes. Should i preemptively change the coils due to the age and mileage as they could be the originals? I know Hondas need valve adjustments but I don't know if mine currently does, how can you tell? It's a bit lacking in the acceleration but that's what you sign up for with 109hp and since I bought it with 158,000 miles I don't have a baseline to compare it to. I'm a student working part time in Ca so I don't want to spend money unnecessarily. Should I make these preventative investments or adopt the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach?
If you don't take the preventative approach, you'll certainly be thinking about it while your walking home.
