What's good everyone? I happened to get ahold of a bungee cord for my Civic due to popping out of 5th gear. Its my first time using one but how would I set the cord up for 5th gear to keep the stick in place while on the freeway?

That sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

Figure out your transportation situation man.

Its cause holding it in 5th gear gets tiring especially on a 1-2 hour drive which I do plan on havin the issue fixed once I get that college money

Well I hope this is joke. This is no way to fix the issue.

The synchros for your fifth gear are worn out.  You need a rebuilt transmission, not a bungee cord.

Assuming you're serious, that trans is worn out and the bungee cord trick will just make it crater more quickly. Hope you have AAA towing.

Oh uuuuhhh... alrigh I won't do it

For now you can just leave it in 4th gear if that's working OK and live with the engine revving a bit higher.

I'll do that its just I don't trust it goin highway speeds the reason for it is cause I have this image the engine will overheat plus there did come a time I drove at highway speeds in 4th gear and it burned oil

guess you have to take the farm roads until you get it fixed

I'm not sure what the gear ratios are on that transmission but probably 5th gear drops you down about 500 rpm from 4th. If everything is in good shape it should not be a problem to stay in 4th and cruise at around 3000 rpm if that's what it takes. I've driven cars where the engines would spin like that at freeway speeds in top gear from the factory.

This is not going to end well.  Get the issue properly fixed by a competent mechanic.

Do not use the 5th gear till you have it fixed.

Remember the guy that used J B Weld to tighten his lug nuts? Did he give you the bungee cord idea?
