I have a 2017 civic base 2.0. I bought it for 32,000$ in jan 2022 and when I bought it it had 20,000 miles on it. The car also has a salvaged title. The reason I bought it was because they said everything was replaced and the car was perfect. I still owe 10,000 as of right now. The transmission failed after a month of my having it ( and I do not drive a lot or treat my car like anything other than a tool to get from A to B) and I also baby it, don't push it when it is heating the oil up, don't turn the A/C on until the oil is heated up, go over bumps very slowly, and only drive to work and back. The car has 44,000 miles now and I've done regular maintenance since I've had the car, and I've spent about 5,000 extra on the car so far. The rear wheel bearings were bad off the lot as well as the tires, the spark plugs were black somehow with only 20,000 miles on it, recently (the past two or so months) the car is shaking badly. The shaking is on the seats, the gas pedal and the steering wheel and the shaking seems to only be when the car is stopped. It's terrible when the car is braked at a stop light. I put it in neutral and the shaking goes away. Oh also I forgot to mention that the firewall is broken and that was like that before I got the car. So I was wondering if you could help me out any with advice or perhaps even I could use my days off to come to you wherever you happen to be to look at my car. I would not expect it to be free either. Thanks spotty. Keep doing what you've been doing. We all appreciate it.
Ouch, that is a real horror story. Unfortunately you found out the hard way never to trust what a seller tells you and never buy a car with a salvage title. That thing must have been in a huge wreck. Heck you could have bought a brand new Corolla or Civic for that kind of money and had some change left over. (This sounds worse than even the typical "buy here pay here" used car lot disaster.) The problem is that if you sell the car in that condition you'll get next to nothing for it, probably parts car or scrap price. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place.
I believe Scotty is currently in his Clarksville, Tennessee location. (He spends part of the year in Rhode Island.) If you're anywhere near there see the FAQ for information on making an appointment for him to take a look at it.

always have an independent inspection done by a mechanic. Even the most honest people in the world can still be uninformed.

So what did you do?

sounds like a bad torque converter. Did you replace the transmission but put the old torque converter back in?
Oh also I forgot to mention that the firewall is broken
That doesn't sound safe.
There is no easy way out of this one I'm afraid. Either sell at a loss, or replace what's broken and hope nothing else serious comes up. But this is how it usually goes with salvage cars. They're ticking time bombs.
