1995 Oldsmobile Silhouette, 126K miles,3.8 V 6

Will a faulty Intake Temperature Sensor make the engine hard to start when it gets cold?

Tuesday,,, 39F, starts but surges until engine warms up, about 30 seconds.

Wednesday,,,42F, same thing

Thursday,Friday,Saturday above 55F, starts right up and runs fine.

Sunday, today, 38F, same as Tues and Wed.

Once engine smoothes out, it runs fine the rest of the day.

Get a new one, they're only about $18.00 everywhere.

Thanks for the reply, got one ordered

Yes. The computer needs to know the air temperature so it can add the right amount of fuel.

So, MMJ, if the sensor is faulty, it is possible that it doesn't work below , say, 40F or so? thats what I am experiencing. Yep, it gets that cold in central Florida in the winter. Glad I ordered the right part.

when it's warm, fuel vaporizes easier, and the sensor isn't needed (as much)
