Go right ahead if a mechanic says it’s still in good shape.

Ofcourse, a high mileage car isn’t worth a lot, so bargain hard -

They are well made cars and with having a Corolla drivetrain, try can last a long time, but realize that this is 14 years old with over 150k miles and does not worth much.

Will give you some good things to check for. The engines, given oil changes are pretty bulletproof, but the transmissions can be abused to failure, things like evap canisters, fuel pumps, alternators can go out. Be sure to have the car scanned to see that the seller didn't get rid of a check engine light by taking the battery cable off.

I would like to see it for no more than $2500, and that's if it can pass a mechanical inspection.

The market is crazy right now though so if you like it and it checks out, go ahead.
