Is it safe to buy a reconstruction title?

Hey Mr Scotty, I am looking to buy a used car from a private owner. I’m looking for a 2002 toyota camry thanks to your advice but it seems the only available near me are salvage or reconstruction titles. I prefer clean titles but I would have to travel too far.

Not 2002 my fault a 2001

Personally speaking, I would only buy a clean titled car.

However, even a car with a clean title should be scrutinized.

With used car prices this high, there are even more scammers than usual out there.

Thank you for the advice, I will definitely consider this when choosing. I prefer a clean but people are charging so much, it’s ridiculous. But I will definitely title information learned something new.

No.

It depends on the circumstances of the title. Some lightly damaged cars may get totaled because repairing them costs too much compared to their market value. My 2011 VW Jetta is an example of this. It was involved in a minor sideswipe accident and the insurance company totaled it despite the car remaining safe to drive without problems.

However, flood cars and cars with frame damage should be avoided at all costs. So make sure you aren't getting a flood car or a car with structural deficiencies.

Thank you, I completely forgot about flood damage and didn’t think of flame accidents. I definitely will check and there is a 2001 honda accord available if it too bad.
