[Solved] Is the time to change a PCV valve on a 2011 Rav4 really 3+ hours?!

Even though the manual on our 2011 Rav4 states that burning 1.1 quarts of oil PER 600 MILES is perfectly acceptable by Toyota NEW! (and exactly what we've got now 11 years old) we decided to have the PCV valve changed.

Dealer stated that the repair time is 3+ hours. Can anyone confirm via ALLDATA? Scotty is always quickly saying 'change out the PCV valve and see if that helps at all.' But an almost $500 job isn't something we're going to do flippantly.

THX!

You did not specify which engine.

Yes, our mistake. THX: 2AR-FE, 118k miles

That's it. It's a 3.5 hour job because it's under the intake (thx Toyota) unless you attempt the wheel trick...THX Chuck. (P.S., dealer and local doesn't want to try that either)

That stinks. It's a 60-second job on most cars.

100%. Even more annoying on a Toyota that was coming out of the defective piston rings and here is using the low tension ones. You read the 2011 manual and it states 'the acceptable rate of burn before you should see the dealer? 1.1 quarts per 600 miles' so now 11 years later, burning a bit less than that you're left to ponder -- has it been doing this forever and since you change oil every 3-4k you just never used all 4 quarts {black}:suspicious: Just know we wouldn't have bought this Toyota Rav4 had we read that insanity in the manual back in the day...

That's insanity. I don't even have to add any oil between 5000 mile changes to my daily ride and 300,000 miles is way back in the rear view mirror.

And the reason we've been a toyota family for 30 some years here. Even after 2011...:)

Ugggh. Annoying. 118k and I have to check oil. Never, ever b4.

Wow. That's a lot of work only to find that the PCV valve is still OK.
