You guys think the 2015-2017 camry se is a good first car? What would be better: v6 or I4?

Either engine would be ok I believe that was after all of the oil delusion problems. If you want more power go V6 but the I4 would be good as well. Make sure you have a mechanic check it out before you buy it. Best of luck!

The 4 cylinder 2007 had ngine oil issues, my girlfriend had that one and the engine was replaced.

Yes, but after 2013 they fixed the problem.

Yes, the 4 cylinder is pretty much all you need. However, the 6 wouldn’t work as hard. Both good choices, you can’t go wrong.

Oil dilution wasn't the issue. There were some oil burners, but those were the older models.

Either motor that year was good. Just decide if you want gas mileage and cheap insurance (4 cylinder) or more power and higher cost (V6).

Both engines are good but make sure a mechanic checks out the tranmission as that is the weakest part of that generation of Camry. Though since you said the Accord I4 was boring I'd think it would be the same with the Camry.

I'd look into the end of the generation 2017 maybe 2016 to avoid the transmission issues those transmissions had. They had shudder issues Toyota issues a TSb for 2012-2014 but still continued to use the same unit through the end of the generation so I'd be wary and definitely test drive and have a mechanic check it out. Also, the V6 don't have any problems but youtube mechanic people say the 4 cylinder had some oil leak problems. For you, I'd recommend the V6 as you said your father's Accord was boring so I doubt you would like the 4 cylinder Camry. Definitely get the sportier SE or XSE trims and stick to the regular gasoline version.
The used car buying guide has lots of information on these stuff, I have them all linked above.

Transmission Issues are common so you would want that inspected by a mechanic

I would like to help you out here buddy but craigslist isn't on your side
https://newyork.craigslist.org/search/cto?purveyor-input=owner&auto_make_model=toyota+camry&min_auto_year=2015&max_auto_year=2017&auto_cylinders=4

There are many 4 cylinders though: https://longisland.craigslist.org/cto/d/farmingdale-2017-toyota-camry/7269581069.html

Good luck! I'd look at dealers using cargurus and autotempest to find your wanted V6, and keep an eye on those RAV4s

I decided camry's are boring

Ok you might as well put that in the comment of your original answer so people know your looking at them anymore. Since the RAV4 is your dream car and actually less expensive I'd look at those.

You mention 2015-2017, but I would get later in the generation (2017) if budget permits since by then bugs/issues would have been worked out.  The I4 will cost less to maintain/repair over the life of ownership versus the V6 (including saving on fuel) and last longer, but both engines are fine.  Drive both and see which you really want.

The V6 Camrys are pretty reliable but the 4 cylinders are even better. But overall, it narrows down to which one you like better. I have a 2019 and I chose the 4 cylinder simply because of gas mileage. I was already slightly ticked off because the Civic I had before it was getting 40mpg on the highway and my Camry gets 34mpg on the highway lol. Imagine how pissed I’d be about gas mileage if I got a V6 lol. Now you could get a V6 and have it last for 350,000 miles or get a 4 cylinder and have it last for 400,000 miles. The difference isn’t that great in terms of reliability but the 4 cylinder Camry will cost less and you’ll save money on gas. If you don’t care about those factors, go ahead and get a V6

Yes, do it! As for the engine it doesn't really matter. They are both good engines.
