KYB Quick Struts

Hey Scotty (or whoever is reading this),

I have a 2010 Buick Enclave with 186,000 miles on it. The factory front struts are completely worn out (oil all over the place) and I was thinking about replacing them with KYB quick struts from RockAuto. I’ve heard they are good quality. I know quick struts aren’t always great, but I was hoping to not have to mess with the springs and everything. Thoughts?? Thanks!!!

I used KYB quick struts on my 2003 Honda Odyssey with 172k miles. Obviously the factory ones were shot. It rides better, some improvement, the ride height in the front is about an inch or two higher than the back now. I give them a 4 out of 5 stars, for my experience with them.

Just to add to the original post..I wasn’t sure if people like the KYBs over OEM or if its worth the extra $100 to get GM Genuine struts + equipment

In my personal experience, I have been using KYB Excel G shocks & struts for the last 3yrs. They have been working flawlessly with zero complaints so far. I even got better acceleration & improved handling compared to the stock ones.

Some KYB's work great on some cars...not as well on others.  I recommend you find a forum for the buick and see what others have used for that vehicle  re: satisfaction vs. cost.

Always get the pre-assembled struts. I've done the spring thing for fun, thinking OH YEAH these KONI yellows gonna be siiiiiick. And guess what? The stiffer the shock and spring, the more force it's gonna take. The more force, the more heat... And heat kills the strut pistons. So I'd look at what is a smoother - boat-ier ride, and get those. IF someone says KYB is like a cushion, that's what you want. Dont get sucked into performance for a daily 🙂

3 months ago I installed a set of KYB Excel G shocks & struts on the rear of my 2006 Honda Ridgeline with 169,000 miles. The OEM ones were shot and the ride was noisy and rough. So far the KYB Excel G feel great. My ride is quiet and smooth. If you decide to go with the KYG go to their website so you know which ones fit your car then write down the part number and search the internet for the best price. One thing you will notice is that the prices vary by as much as $80 each depending on who sells them. I got mine for $140 each, the average price was $185 everywhere else. Also, make sure the vendor is legitimate. There are plenty of shady characters out there.
