2005 Buick LaSabre Custom 3.8L V6 128,255mi, i pull the lower turn signal socket from the housing, and the buld is dripping liquid, i assume was water. i pull the plug, the socket is soaked through and full of green corrossion on al the contacts. so I pull the wire sub assembly (? not sure if thats right term) from the socket and it too is very wet and showing signs of corrosion on the contacts. I checked the turn signal housing, but found no obvious signs of a flood, also, this was a dry day, no rain either for past few days, so thoughts of possible mud puddle, nil, especially since i hadnt even moved the car in days either. so now i'm stumped....how did this liqiud get into the turn signal housing, without leaving signs of its infiltration in, and on the turn signal housing assembly, while nonetheless completely drowning not only the blub, but approx 9 inches of wire sub asssebly, and completely saturating the connecting points of the socket and wire assembly, and be there long enough for it to completely corrode the interior contacts of the socket. also, should I just error on the side of "WTH/WTF and replace the housing, bulb, socket, and wiring sub assembly as far back as I can trace it?
Well generally the plastic seeps wherever it's sealed to the housing and it's not a one piece assembly. And then the water just gets inside through small seepages and fills it up. The only other way would be if the socket itself had a bad seal where it snaps in
Consider drilling a hole (or 2) in the bottom of the turn signal housing to allow water to drain out. Make sure it wouldnt be dripping on any other electronics from the hole(s).
