Can newer Dodge Challengers turn into classics?

Hello, I have a 2016 Dodge Challenger SXT V6 with 33k miles on it. I would like to store and maintain it in order to gift it to my currently 1 year old son when he is old enough. Is that realistic i.e. can the newer models become classics?

Thank you!

I doubt they'll last long enough to become real classics, particularly the electronics. Engines and transmissions on 1960s and 1970s models are relatively easy to rebuild, not so on modern vehicles. I don't think it will be feasible at all to run a 2016 model in 2066 and beyond.

In your case though you're talking about storing the vehicle for only about 16 years or so, at which point it will be about 22 years old, so maybe you'd have a shot at it. If it sits unused all that time though it is going to need quite a bit of work to put it back on the road. Read up on long-term storage issues. It would probably be better to subject it to light use (500-1000 miles per year in good weather) and normal maintenance during that period of time.

Nope! My brother recently sold his pristine garage kept, barely broken in, custom metallic and stripe paint, manual Challenger R/T. (around year 2013)

He got less than half of what he paid for it new.

Family cars can have sentimental value apart from collector value. For extra, my brother and I are maintaining my dad’s 97 S10; not exactly a high value classic.  So I’m sure it will be appreciated.

But Chuck is right. Modern Dodges have a lot of electrical gremlins as they age and don’t hold a lot of value. Be nice to it, keep it maintained, and cross your fingers.

Newer Dodge vehicles are so poorly built, there's no chance it'll become a classic.

TBH, you never know.

I never thought old super Civics or Integras would be sought after, but there is a market for them.
