Hi, so I have a 2011 Mazda 3 1.6L MZ-CD 85kW 6M with 223000km. My father was driving it when this happened so I can't be too specific, but he says he was driving on the highway going around 160 km/h when he heard a sound of something breaking or cracking. After that the traction control light and that light that has an exclamation mark inside of a gear or something. It says on the internet it's called the automatic gearbox warning but I drive a manual so idk. The car wouldn't rev over 2000rpm after that. After getting of the highway he stopped and restarted the engine and then the check engine light came on. What do you think the problem could be?

You let your dad drive 160 km/h in your car? Kind of reckless don't you think? That's 40km/h over the highest speed limit in Canada.

If you get caught for this kind of "excessive speed", you automatically get:

  • a hefty fine
  • a vehicle impoundment
  • a strike against your driving record
  • increased insurance rates.

the light is trying to tell you whats wrong. Run a diagnostic scan.

This is Croatia and he probably wouldn't be stopped for that since the speedometer shows a bit more and the police generally don't stop people for speeds up to 160

Transmission temperature, can overheat if you're driving it that fast.

It's an 11 year old car with 110 horsepower, if you value your money and life - don't drive it 160kmh.

check engine light came on

connect an OBD2 scanner and perform a full code scan.

If possible, connect an all systems scanner.

What do you think the problem could be?

About a hungered different things, in all likelihood, An OBD2 scan will narrow it down to at most a few.
