Hey, Scotty.
I recently inherited a Dakar Rally-spec 2019 Honda CRF450 Rally from my older Sister and I'm going to use it as my First Motorcycle for Weekend Off-road Purpose
Any thoughts on those Bike?
Excellent starter bike
No, 450 may be a bit much for a beginner imo, especially with this style of bike; they often have a lot of bottom-end torque that which can cause the unexperienced to lose control easily. But otherwise if you’re not a beginner, Honda, like all the other 3 major Japanese motorcycle manufacturers, make excellent, fun, and reliable motorcycles.
To be honest the CRF450 Rally is not my First Bike that I use to learn how to ride a Motorcycle
First Motorcycle that I use to learn how to ride is CRF125F, then CRF150L and CRF250L
@BobTheHatKing 450 is not too much for a starter bike. Even 500 is not too much for a starter bike.
@billybob notice I wrote might. 450, 500, even 600 might be ok as a starter bike if you’re careful and use common sense. The problem is many beginners feel the thrill for the first time and now they just want to crank it full throttle and pretend like they’re in the Moto GP or something. Also weight is another thing. The higher the displacement, the heavier it is which in turn makes it generally harder to control, and as a beginner you will have a higher chance of dropping the bike vs an experienced rider, and those chances increase even more when you have less control due to increased weight. Also the type of bike matters too: starting on a 600 sport bike is different from starting on a 600 cruiser. Now both have their pros and cons when they’re used as a starter, but a cruiser will give you much less room to do something stupid and get yourself killed. The problem with the cruisers, they’re heavy, and often the seating position makes it harder to control. But if you get 250-300 either would be ok. I’m sure lot of people get away with starting on a 450/500/600 and even liter bikes, but <300 would be safer. Maybe we’ll agree to disagree, but I guess it doesn’t matter here since OP has already stated they have experience with motorcycles.
@BobTheHatKing Yes, a 600 sport bike is a lot as a starter bike. But I still think a 500 sport bike would still be a good starter bike.
Any bike you have is a good starter bike. Just remember, to go left, push on the left handlebar; to go right, push on the right handle bar.
