Honda K24 engine burns oil at low mileage

I have a 2006 Honda Accord 2.4L, bone stock other than an aftermarket muffler. bought the car when it had 80.3K miles and currently it is about to hit 93k mikes. Stock intake hose does have a small crack (not sure if i caused this while changing filter or if it was already there) below i am including a list of symptoms that i am currently experiencing most of which i have been experiencing ever since i got the car. the main concern is the oil consumption, i haven’t checked professionally  for leaks but as far as i’ve seen i’ve never seen an liquids drip from the car. i really can’t drive the car how i want because of this oil consumption issue. i’m not sure if what i’m about to say means it’s burning oil but i had my friend drive my car and he was in front of me while i was driving his car behind him. he was pushing the car quite a bit and at one point he took it to redline and because of the muffler i can hear clearly at which point the RPM’s were at based off the sound. it seemed as if after he crossed 4-5K RPM, i started to see white smoke come out of the exhaust tip and very shortly after that i smelled something, now i don’t know how burned oil is supposed to smell like but i think that’s what i smelled. the point of that was that i think the car starts to burn oil, or maybe burn oil a lot faster, at high RPMS.

Here are the list of symptoms i am experiencing, these may not be all the ones i experience as i can’t think of the other ones as of now, but there may not be any more.

  1. rough idle
  2. black stuff on exhaust tip
  3. max 330 miles on full tank (id say on every tank the car is pushed 15-20% of the time and is driven normally 80-85% of the time)
  4. car can go from full oil level mark on the dipstick to minimum level in just 2,000 miles (so far it doesn’t seem to drop below)
  5. coolant may possibly be in very slow consumption (too slow for me to notice, i might be tripping)
  6. loud clicking noise every time the accelerator is pushed a bit hard from a complete stop whether in drive or reverse (i personally think it’s the front right axle cuz that’s where the noise comes from)

engine burns oil at low mileage (...) had 80.3K (...) currently (...) about (...) 93k mikes

That's not "low" milage, and I'd be willing to bet one of two things:

  • Either it's not the real millage - I wouldn't believe it was driven under 6k a year on average.

(Especially considering the engine issues you're describing)

  • Or it has been severely neglected or abused, which is also very likely.

Might be, a combination of both.

Either way, oil consumption not caused by abuse/neglect/high millage on an '06 Accord is rare.

Stock intake hose does have a small crack

This can cause the car to run worse if the crack is after/around the MAP/MAF sensors.

the main concern is the oil consumption

You can't do much, the engine is flat worn-out.

If you really want to verify if that's engine wear do a dry/wet compression test.

Also you can replace the PCV valve but most likely it won't do much.

white smoke come out of the exhaust tip

Well most likely RIP head gasket - It's time to get a head gasket test.

Might be a small head-gasket leak that mostly shows when your car is at high rpm.

If the results show you have a blown head gasket, you need to replace the engine / junk the car.

(Obviously you do not replace the head gasket on an engine that's burning oil)

most of which i have been experiencing ever since i got the car

Pro tip: ALWAYS get a pre-purchase inspection, NEVER buy a car that has engine issues.

UNLESS, you know what you're doing and going to fix it DIY or unless it's a few hungered bucks.

+1 @dan

Doubt if the mileage is genuine. Do you have proof of the mileage being real/prior service history?

I think your friend might have pushed it too hard redlining it and wearing the engine out prematurely. It is possible the PCV valve could be clogged up leading to excessive oil consumption but even then your car would have to be decently old. However, if there is white smoke there's a good chance the head gasket is blown leading to coolant leaking and possibly oil in the process. The clicking sound from the accelerator could possibly be oil pressure related to your situation currently.
