Hi Scotty!

I have a 1994 Ford Bronco XL, 5.0L, 5 speed manual transmission with 256783 miles on original engine and I need to have your opinion wether if I should get there engine rebuilt or have it replaced by a crate engine. The engine has leaking freeze plugs and the air filters are being soaked with oil. It’s also leaking oil from the rear main seal. What’s your recommendation on what to do with the motor? What do you think it’ll cost?

May I go crate engine

I'd go crate motor IF you want to keep it. Just realize you're going to be putting more into it than the vehicle is worth.

Crate engine would be fantastic because can trust the work was done correctly. Machine shops and the art of rebuilding is fading fast. Did a lookup for a coyote crate engine and jaw drop, and need to buy additional parts on top of that. Also, not sure about the "just drop it in." There may be extra steps needed. The engine is fly by wire, so need to buy an accelerator pedal. Then the enigne may tear up the clutch, and then it is chasing issues. My point is the price may add up fast. Yes, to spending more than the car is worth. Buuuut, that is a great looking truck. Dont make em like that anymore. It would be wonderful to have classic exterior and modern internals. I totally ran with this. Agree with Scotty and Mod, crate is the way.
