New Corolla Hybrid Not Getting Advertised Fuel Economy

Hey Scotty!

I took your advice, sold my Chevy and got a great deal on a new 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid! It's supposed to get at least 52 MPG, and I read articles online where people were getting as much as 60 MPG! However, I can't manage to average more than 45 MPG average from a tank. I've been driving like a grandma and will only use heat and fan, no AC, trying my best to get the highest fuel economy possible. I live in SC which is around 40-55 degrees outside right now. I put around 800 miles on it so far most of it on flat highways, no faster than 85 MPH. I'm supposed to get around 600 miles on a tank but I can't manage to get more than 500 without needing to fill up. What am I doing wrong??

If you want to get the most, you should not drive faster than 65 mph.

Check out this article:

Your car is brand new! Give it some time.. Besides cold weather negatively affects fuel economy.

Just enjoy the car & check the fuel economy again, after you cross 5,000 miles on the odometer, after your oil change & the engine has run in.

I still wouldn't complain about the milage you're getting... Besides, scotty has said , a few times.. you never get the gas milage they say you will. Pretty much ever, it's a blown up estimate , in the best of driving conditions...you probably won't get 52 to 60 on a daily basis..you won't get it at all going 85... Your motor is working more at that speed, and uses more gas, working harx

I have NEVER achieved the advertised fuel economy for my cars. They're just not realistic...it's theoretical.
