Hello I was just wondering your opinions about a new EV company called Atlis Motor Vehicles based out of Mesa Arizona. Their product they are advertising is a heavy duty truck that is fully electric, has a 500 mile range, can be fully charged in 15 minutes and can tow up to 35,000 pounds. They even said the price would start at around $45,000. They’ve even claimed that the vehicle would go 1,000,000 miles with regular maintenance. The CEO of the brand claims he has a new superior type of battery technology that he developed during his time spent in his old profession manufacturing tasers, however he doesn’t seem to have any history in vehicle engineering. They also claim several other things about the vehicle that seem like it may be too good to be true. Normally I wouldn’t pay much attention until I see a physical product, however they are actively asking for and taking large investments from people. They say the vehicle will be available for sale in 2022. They have had a lot of coverage from several large sources like motortrend and TFL, and I am curious about the legitimacy of this company. Since I’ve followed this story I see people on YouTube and social media all the time talking about how excited they are for the innovation this company is making and how they are investing heavily into this brand, and I do not see a lot of people calling them out or bringing up any speculations. Any thoughts or opinions?
You're going to see a lot of EV startups right now. Time will tell if they are legit or not.
I wouldn't gamble on it.
A lot of these companies’ products are vapor ware. I personally would not buy a product from any company until it has been out for a while and proven. Remember Faraday Future or Elio Motors? Also, a lot of these EV startups - what experience do they have in car design and manufacturing? Even Tesla who has been building and selling EVs since 2012 still has lots of build quality issues. Why should we spend hard earned money on these startups’ vehicles if they had no prior product to begin with and a track record like more established companies? If someone wants want an EV, they are better of getting from an established automaker in the distant future with a proven track record on quality.
It’s hard to say.
They could very will be a legitimate company trying to make ends meet and what to bring their EV to market
They could also be a total scam with no real intention to bring to market, but just mooch of peoples hopes and dreams.
Caveat Emptor!
You mostly lost me at $45.000 and then completly lost me at 1.000.000 miles
Yeah.. me too {pear}:laughingoutloud:
Well this guy is claiming he can build a fully electric truck with towing statistics comparable to a Ford F-350 with new technologies no other car manufacturer has. And normally I would just laugh this off like a bad joke but what really concerns me is he’s actually getting tons of small investors and he’s raised millions so far, and I’m not seeing anyone call him out or raise any significant suspicion. But meanwhile he’s still getting motortrend articles and interviews with TFL that don’t really address any issues with his claims. Real people are potentially losing money here and I’m just confused why no one is sounding any alarms I guess?
That is why you have to do research and use common sense when buying a vehicle. So many things to take into consideration but thats for another time. If I saw this, and a friend was going to buy it, I would send them this video which would immediately make them forget about it.
I'm with DayWalker.
I have seen quite a few technology startup companies with absolutely no hope of ever succeeding, a practically flawed premise from the get-go, and they fail miserably. But before they do, they dupe a lot of investors because they have shiny marketing, lots of buzzwords, and they troll the environmentalists with promises of "green" technology. Beware!
