Hi! I just purchased new Michelin tires for my 2017 Cherokee Trailhawk. Discount Tires told me that they filled the tires to 33 PSI, which is what Michelin recommends for the tire/vehicle (Goodyear OEMs). Jeep, of course, thinks the PSI should be 36, so the TPMS indicates an issue. I think that signal may go away after driving for a while, because 33 is within the 6-7 PSI tolerance of the system.
My question is, is there an easy way for an owner to reprogram the TPMS to match the tires that are on the vehicle?
Thanks
If you installed the OEM tyre size, I’d stick to the cold tyre pressures mentioned in the door jamb.
Do you REALLY need a computer to tell you to check the air in your tires?
SAD!
I think you missed the point. He obviously monitors the pressure in his tires. He just wants to turn off the light on the dash.
And by the way, TPMS monitors your tire pressure while you drive. Can YOU do that? It will alert you of a leak long before you feel it, which could be too late at 75mph.
Nope.
It just seems much to do over nothing IMO
I've driven for 53 years without them.
... and people drove for a long time without seat belts. Or liquid cooling. What's your point?
My TPMS has not been "much to do" at all. It hasn't given me much trouble, and it has reliably been reporting air pressure to me daily.
To each his own
