Nissan CVTs bad? See how bad Kia/Hyundai CVTs are.

Hey Scotty,

ik a lot of the Nissan models have CVT transmission failures, but I saw a video of a guy that had the latest generation of the Kia Soul (2020) with that so-called "IVT" transmission and it failed under 1000 miles (636 miles to be exact). The owner said as of 2021, he no longer owns the vehicle.

I thought Jatco CVTs are bad but don't seem as bad as Kia/Hyundai

I even saw late model Kia Forte CVTs fail at around the 10 000 mile mark

Looks like he is not alone:

It is still very new technology, and it’s best to not be a guinea pig for it - doesn’t matter the automaker.  Hyundai Motor Group has enough  issues on their hands, why add another one to the bone pile?

I will say while Nissan doesn't make good CVTs, I have seen some that maintained them well and got lucky with them and getting 200-300k, which is pretty good for a CVT if you ask me.

I am not a fan of CVTs from any automaker, to be honest.

same here, they are fine in some vehicles but not a fan in general. I would prefer traditional automatic or manual

even my dad doesn't like them, but the only one he says that are not bad in terms of how they feel and the overall responsiveness was when we rented an Infiniti Qx60 in Las Vegas and took it on a road trip to San fransisco
