What is the best old scanner to purchase for around 100.00 dollars. How about Bluedriver Professional OBDll Scan Tool for iPhone? Thanks
The BlueDriver is a great tool. I would recommend it.
I use a Blue Driver. It's very good. Some folks like MX Plus. Scotty seems to like the Innovas, which are corded, not wireless, although they may be more expensive (depends on the model).
One of the things that you'll want to do BEFORE you buy one is go to the manufacturer's site and make sure that your car and model is covered in sufficient depth to warrant the purchase, and the software is capable for iOS.
For my 08 Camry, for example, Mode 6/Enhanced Diagnostics/Live Data is available, in Android. Contrast and compare between the sites.
Don't buy a bargain basement OBD2 reader, such as a cheap Chinesium OBD2 reader. If they're not rock solid in terms of hardware quality, they could fry your ECM.
I have a cheap basic Autel MS300 scanner that cost about $30. It's a cheapo China-made gadget but at least is one of the leading brands. It's given no problems and is sufficient for quickly checking I/M readiness status to get ready for emission tests. (Just checked that today since I take it in soon - all is good on my ol' beater). The cheap Autel can also read and delete stored codes. No live data of course.
For more in-depth data and procedures I have a Tech2 clone which works well. (Dealer-level scan tool for GM and Saab 1990s-2010s vehicles.)
For $100 definitely the Bluedriver. If you do buy it, buy direct from the company’s website to get the latest firmware and peace of mind (not get potentially scammed at other websites).
