How do I fix oxygen sensor bias

Hi Scotty.

I bought a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis with 206,000 miles on it. It was meticulously taken care for. When I bought it I decided to fill the tank with Exon Super and add a Lucas fuel injector cleaner in it. I usually don't put super in the other family cars but I thought I would do this once to clean out the tank of any junk residue in the tank. Ever since then, the check engine light stays on unless I disconnect the negative battery terminal. I did notice a slight odor once while driving the car and some hesitation at that time. I just bought a basic scanner and code P2195 comes up. Otherwise the car runs like it's brand new. Yesterday Is the second time I filled the tank with Exon Regular and added Gumout High Mileage complete fuel system cleaner cause I thought the Lucas screwed something up. Today, it was running fine till there was some hesitation and the check engine light came on again with the same code. I cleared it with the scanner. Is this something to be concerned about? I don't know if it's a fouled injector and/or a sensor, or that high octane gasoline goofed it up. The light is not flashing by the way. The code is still P2195: Oxygen Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Lean - Bank 1 Sensor 1.

Love your show, Thank you.

add a Lucas fuel injector cleaner in it.

make sure you burn it all up first.

high octane gas has nothing to do with cleaning. It has the same detergents as regular.

junk residue in the tank

Plastic tanks don't get junk in em like the old metal ones did.

So you have a cocktail of who knows what in there, and you have to start the process all over again. Now you have to wait until you burn through an entire tank of gas.

the check engine light came on again

of course it did. You have a lot of stuff in the system that isn't what the car is expecting: gasoline

Do you think the super Exxon gas fouled up a sensor or the injector

No.

I believe in preventive maintenance

You're just wasting your money.

Should I take it to a mechanic or see if it corrects itself on its own?

You should finish your cycle of cleaner. If the light still comes on after a couple tanks of unaltered gasoline, then follow the troubleshooting in the link Yaser provided.

Thank you for your input everybody, it's appreciated.

The code is still P2195.

which means?

Hi. Do you think the super Exxon gas fouled up a sensor or the injector since I didn't have a problem before? I used the Gumout product now since I saw Scotty use it in one of his videos. I thought there might of been a lot of junk in the bottom of the tank and that's why I tried it, I believe in preventive maintenance. Should I take it to a mechanic or see if it corrects itself on its own? Thank you.
