Poor Fuel Economy on 2015 CR-V

So I have a 2015 Honda CR-V EX (2.4 Liter Earth Dreams and CVT) and I get fairly poor fuel economy on it. For reference, the AWD 2015 CR-V is rated for 26 MPG in the city but I'm averaging 19 MPG according to the computer. If you are familiar with the CR-V, you would know on the center gauge display is an MPG bar. When I apply very minimal acceleration, it goes right down to the 15 mpg spot and a little lower if I actually want to gain any actual speed.  What can be the issue? Engine? Transmission? There are no codes whatsoever.

Odometer: 22,650 miles

Have you checked the basics? Cold tyre pressures, clean filters, tuned up the engine?

Whats your real world mpg on the highway?

I'll double-check but everything seemed fine. Haven't driven it on the highway yet

Well that’s part of the problem. City mpg always varies wildly. The true test of mpg is usually on the highway, preferably for 2-3 hours, at a constant speed in top gear.

yup every minute spent idling in traffic or at a stop light brings the mpg figure down

Interesting, I'm going on a trip up to Vermont in a few weeks so I'll get a good test then. Any idea of what I should get on the highway? If I still get poor MPG for the highway what would that mean? Do note it is a 7-year-old car but only has 22,650 miles on it.

My 2.4L non EarthDreams CR-V gets 35mpg on the highway maintaining a constant 60mph. Yours should get similar (or better) figures.

As long as people are gullible enough to believe published mpg figures, people will be disappointed.

looks like ITWT exceeds them

the figures for my vehicle are actually pretty dang close

I get 33mpg (published) if I have cruise control set at 60mph. So in my particular case, I get better gas mileage with manual throttle input.
