2011 Honda CR-V LX 2WD. 70k miles. Just changed the starter. I took it out from the top as Scotty recommended in my last post, which involved taking off the intake manifold. The intake manifold on this car seems to be two pieces: there’s a plastic piece that distributes the air into each individual cylinder, then downwind of that is a metal piece where the port injectors are and that bolts onto the motor (the head I believe). We didn’t remove the metal piece but the plastic piece was removed.
After putting it all back together, I went for a test drive and got a rough idle, engine shutter, and the engine would die out at idle. Check engine light with P2279 intake air system leak. I haven’t checked my work fully yet to see if anything is loose due to having barely any working room. So far only checked what I could see without taking anything apart, but I will continue to check in the morning. But I did want to ask, was I supposed to change the intake gasket when I took it off? Could that have caused the problem? Is it ok to reuse the gasket? My friend was the one that took that piece off so honestly I don’t even know if there is a gasket between the metal part and the plastic piece.
Also we dropped a screw for the maf sensor in the engine bay and lost it in the abyss so now it’s only held in by 1 screw instead of two, but I doubt that’s the problem because I looked at the live data and the maf reading was within normal range.
In general gaskets need to be replaced unless specifically designed for re-use.
You should be able to match up a replacement screw at a hardware store.
Maf and throttle body were cleaned when the intake was off btw.
