Hi
I have a 2012 Kia sorento diesel, AWD.
Odometer: 693,000 KM. Engine is original. Gearbox has 520,000 KM.
Hi,
I'm having a noise from my rear left wheel, when doing a sharp right turn. It happens mostly when i accelerate while doing the sharp turn.
The car is an All Wheel Drive - with a transfer case, and not a real 4WD.
The All Wheel Drive doesn't actually work anymore, because the splines inside the transfer case and rear differential shaft is worn out. - According to gearbox specialist from long time ago.
So the car is driving as Front Drive only.
There is no power going to the rear wheel.
I stopped servicing the rear differential Axle, because it is pointless if the rear wheel has no power.
I didn't service the rear axle since 400,000 KM i drove.
Now recently i can hear a random noise, which sounds like a cluck cluck cluck when doing sharp right turns, with throttle.
What should i do? I gave it to a suspension specialist and he was unable to find any issues.
What could be causing it?
And i am too scared to replace the oil in my rear axle, because i'm paranoid that it might break something? Since i didn't service the rear axle for 400,000 KM.

well even if the rear axle is no longer powered, it still spins when you drive. And there are still bearings and axles/shafts which turn with the wheels. Guess what lubricates those bearings?

yes you are being paranoid. There's no reason not to. But if you went 400k km without servicing it , then changing the oil at this point probably won't fix it
Some transfer cases cannot be left disconnected. So that may be grenaded as well.
yes? I see your video.
