Proton saga FL engine don't want to start

Hi, Mr. Scotty
Just to let you know, I have a Proton Saga FL that is Malaysian car. I left it overnight, and when I got up the following morning, the dashboard displayed all of the data.
However, when I try to start the engine, it only runs for half of a second before shutting off. I checked the fuel pump and starter but nothing worked, the mechanic gave up, saying he had no idea what was wrong.
What may be the issue?

When I hear "runs for half of a second before shutting off" I think of the anti-theft/immobilizer system.

Because as soon as the ignition switch contacts the Run position on the way to the Start position the fuel pump is energized so you get fuel pressure.

But if the computer doesn't get confirmation that the correct key is being used, within a second or so, it will shut down the fuel pump, the fuel injectors, or the ignition coils, either one or a combination of these circuits depending on the system design.

Sometimes after that happens the computer won't even engage the starter on subsequent attempts to start the car.

Usually the "theft light" on the dash will go off within a second or so when you turn the key to RUN if the computer recognizes the key.

If it doesn't recognize the key the theft light will either stay on or it will blink

See the troubleshooting section of the FAQ.

I have been advised to check the computer of the car is that necessary

Maybe, the vehicle doesn't test its own ECM. You basically need a dealer level scanner to do that, and you judge by prior experience with known faulty ECMs, you need to look for evidence the ECM has failed, it won't simply say "ECM failed".

Your camshaft position sensor or crankshaft position sensor could also have failed, causing the engine to not run. Hook up a higher level scan tool and investigate. Only use OEM sensors.

Okay, I'll try to checking the crankshaft and camshaft sensors.

However, in terms of sensor magnification, I don't think that proton parts are still available. since most Malaysian dealers use Mitsubishi parts, including the timing belt drive shaft, on proton automobiles.

Would you kindly look at the Mitsubishi Lancer and Proton Inspira? You could find out more about them.

As @justin-shepherd says, you would need access to dealer-level troubleshooting equipment to test the ECU.

What you might want to do if you have a scan tool that can record live data (many inexpensive ones can do that), record data for the short time the engine is running and look for items that are out of range as the engine dies.

Since the Proton is not sold in the U.S. (or even Canada, I think) chances are that very few if any participants here have had any contact with those. Therefore it's not really possible to offer advice specific to that model.

Yes, I completely understand the conditions regarding my car, but what's strange is that it was operating normally no noises at all and now it won't start.

Yes, that is exactly what occurs.

But what's weird about this is that I've been using the same key from the day I bought the car.

Yes, until I close the car, the warning light on the dashboard continues to flicker.

so that's telling you the issue is with the anti-theft/immobilizer system
.
Typically it's not the key but if you have another key you can try that one
.
You can check all your fuses but more than likely it's the receiver antenna/module in the ignition switch housing that failed and it can't read the chip in the key

My original Proton key and my regular usage key are the two copies I have, and neither one worked to start the car.
What should I say to the mechanical shop so they can start fixing the issue right away?

Tell them the theft light is blinking after you turn the key to run/start and the car won't run/start

understood, great thanks; I'll try
