Purchasing a car drive 5 hours and in Miami traffic

Considering a new or new to me car (not a SUV or crossover). I have always been a car enthusiast and looking for a car that is inspiring to drive. I have a preference to a RWD configuration. AWD in a RWD configuration is also good. I also like a manual transmission, but choices are limited. And as for automatic transmissions, I don’t want CVT. I would consider most brands, except for Toyota. The closest dealer has treated me and others poorly. If it were just for me, I would go with a two door, but need to consider a four door automobile. I have opinions about most brands, but willing to consider most. What would you recommend taking into account inspiration, reliability and cost to repair?

Find a used Pontiac G8. It's really a Holden from Australia. I don't think a manual can be had but it's RWD and has power only a dumb person would ever use on a public street. One of the last cars manufactured in Australia. A true car for Hoons. I testified against a driver of one of these for that rare moment when a driver makes what cyclists call a punishment pass in Iowa City rush hour traffic by leaving half his tires on the pavement. The ICPD was right behind him. So was I because he burned rubber only to caught by a traffic light.

Toyota has 2 cars that are RWD. GR86 and GR Supra. They're both coupes, and both can be had with a manual transmission. There's the Honda Civic Si and Type R but they're FWD. Not going to find a whole lot of new RWD 4-door cars with a manual transmission anymore.

Well that's a long list of preferences, but for manual, 4 door, reliable then Honda Civic Si or type R or certain trims of the Civic Hatchback 2022.

Test drive manual Civic, Acccod, or Honda Fit. If you can consider Toyota, then manual Corolla should work too.

Many good suggestions have been made here. I will only say that if you drive in heavy stop & go traffic on a regular basis stay away from a manual transmission. That kind of driving is hard on the clutch and you. When you're creeping along from 0 to 10 MPH for mile after mile you'll wish you had bought an automatic, trust me. 🤬

If there's a Subaru dealer around you, get a Subaru BRZ

pre 2014 Subarus
Even their base models were a blast to drive
a 2.5ltr 168hp in such a light car is a real blast

How about a 2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport

If you don’t want a Toyota, does that include Lexus? What’s the reason for not wanting a Toyota?

It is not out yet.  But the next generation Mazda 6 may fit the bill, assuming it comes in a manual transmission.

It’s a RWD, inline-6, 4 door, and Mazda’s design language inspires me. If it looks anything like the Mazda Vision concept car, it will be one heck of a car.

Thanks, this gives me some more Ideas.

I've test drove three cars this week.  2015 BMW 228I, 72k miles with a 2.0L Turbocharged engine with a MANUAL transmission.  Drove like a BRZ with power!  2015 Lexus IS250, 74k miles with a 2.5L V6 and Automatic transmission and 2016 RC350 25k miles with a 3.5L V6 and Automatic transmission.  I know Scotty trash the BMW, but with are the weak point to it?  And are there any know issues with the pair of Lexus that I test drove?
