My family and I just purchased a 2013 Lincoln MKT AWD 3.7L EcoBoost with almost 99,000 miles on it for $13,600, which includes a year of powertrain warranty. It's a clean title, and we did a post-inspection and found out that the battery needed to be replaced as well as a lot of computer code errors (some of the errors are old and have been fixed now, but I will list them below).
After watching Scotty's most recent Q&A video where he talks about the 2013 Ford Flex, however, I'm now aware that these EcoBoost engines are known for costing a lot of money in terms of water pump replacement, GDI turbocharger problems, and the AWD system. I'm starting to become really worried that we made a bad purchase that's going to cost us a fortune down the road. My family and I take good care of our cars and don't drive them that much; we tend to drive this car about 3-5k miles every year, and I think we should be replacing the engine oil about every 4k miles. Will this car last for some time for my family? Please let me know, I feel deeply concerned and regretful!

That low amount of mileage per year, I think you'll be alright for a while but I'd probably try to sell it personally if you can get anywhere near what you paid for it.
Just baby it and keep up on your maintenance.
@rpmartin32
Thank you so much for the reassurance! We will definitely make sure to take care of it as well as sell it whenever we have the chance.
@rpmartin32 @miqdad.mc After the try to get a Honda Or a Toyota without turbochargers. They will run forever, as Scotty says!
@WeAllBroke
Thank you for the recommendation! How long should I keep this current car for? I'm hoping to keep it for a few years, and I'm able to extend the warranty after a year if I need to
It's really up to you. I would list it for sale on some online places and just see if you get a good offer. Drive it in the mean time though. Don't stress too much about it. It's not like you bought a german car. 😛
@rpmartin32
Haha, true! Well, I tried to put in the information for the MKT on Kelley Blue Book, but I wanted to see what the value would be like at 115,000 miles, and the results were somewhere along the lines of $6,000, maybe $7,000 max. But again thanks for the reassurance!
