My son just purchased a 2017 Ford Expedition. When you decelerate there is a mild thump that feels like it is in the drive train near the rear end of the vehicle. It only happens low speeds as the vehicle is coming to a stop. He has taken it to two Ford dealerships. They told him the drive train is tight and they can’t find a problem. One of the dealers emailed Ford, and the engineers apparently said this was normal. It feels like something is binding then pops in place. It’s kind of a mild, subtle thump. Any ideas if this is normal? Any ideas what is causing this?
Junger that kind of stuff has to do with the drive shaft. But occasionally when the rear differentials are worn it'll do that and I'll just tell you it's normal cuz they don't want to do any warranty work on an expensive rear differential
Does it have zerk fittings you can grease on the drive shaft? I know that if they are not greased, can cause some thumping.
