Rebuilt vs new Fuel Injector Hyundai

Hi, I have a 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring GL, auto trans with 294,000 kms.  I'm looking at potentially replacing the fuel injectors and they are around $50 each for rebuilt ones at NAPA or over $250 each if I buy them new.

Are the rebuilt ones any good?

Regards,

Ned

No way, you're probably not looking at the right injector.

An injector on a 2.0L Hyundai G4CC is worth like at most $100 new

There are 4 remanufactured for $60 and under

( https://www.ebay.com/itm/283559100789 [can not confirm if that's a good seller or correct product])

Generally, injectors on these are cheap and simple, nothing special.

If you have the good engine, the 1.4L/1.6L they're even less than that.

Also how has the car been? reliable? what major repairs has it undergone?

Hi Dan,

I'm based in Canada where parts are not as cheap nor readily available as in the US. I think the exchange on the dollar is around 73 cents.

I find NAPA a good source for Hyundai compatible parts and I try to avoid ordering online and getting Chinese knockoffs.   It is for a 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring GL 2.0L Gas engine. NAPA Canada has a refurbished one for $58 plus tax and a new one for $237.00 plus tax.  I haven't tried the dealer but usually they are more expensive than NAPA.

From what I hear I have been very fortunate to not buy a later model of Hyundai as they have extensive engine issues.  Mine has been great.  The only things I have done that are major are brake changes and I have changed out the timing belt but other than that not much.  I change my own oil, transmission fluid and coolant.  The radio sucks and I did replace the power window module that controls all of the power from the driver side with one that I picked up at the junk yard for $50.

It's  great little hauler.  I have hauled around 50 gallon gas water heaters, freezers, couches, lumber up to 14 feet in length. Always starts, a/c is still cold as ice.  Gas mileage rating has never been as advertised and is steadily getting worse, whence the fuel injectors.  I am going to try and clean them first.

Eh asking and price hunting is free, so why not?

I'd try also other shops.

294,000 kms (...) Mine has been great (...) From what I hear I have been very fortunate to not buy a later model of Hyundai as they have extensive engine issues.  Mine has been great.

The good old MPi powertrains... but yes, nowadays Hyundai's only selling crappy GDi engines in North America.

(And in general they seem to began phasing out MPi powertrains worldwide...)
