I have a 2015 tlx that in 92k miles has been flawless. My commute is 40mi each way - half highway half twisty roads. On the highway i want a comfortable efficient cruiser and on the twisties something fun. The TLX has been a great fit but I want something bigger. A Lexus ES seems good but maybe a little boring. The Lexus GS doesn’t have the lane centering tool. The new tlx is nice but maybe too small and the new one has a turbo. Any recommendations? Would consider a genesis but reliability is a question. Same with the Germans or a Cadillac.
Unless you’re dead set on getting rid of your present car, I’d upgrade the tyres to a good set of soft rubber & spend a little $$$ to spruce up the cabin interior & better audio system.
Plus you’ll lose out in depreciation.
The TLX will stay in the family! My kids need a car. It’s too nice for them but used cars are so $$$ now that it doesn’t make sense to get another car of unknown origins....so they get the tlx and I get something new.... {black}:deceitful:
Ahh gotcha. That’s a great plan, because she still has a lot of life left in her..
In that case, I’d pick between the ES or GS. Congratulations & good luck!
Which generation/model years Lexus GS did you look at? I was going to recommend the 4th generation (2013 and newer) GS350 (RWD). The model years starting for MY 2014+ had lane keeping assist available. Besides, even if it didn’t have that feature, that’s one less thing to break in the future 🙂
None of them have the 2.0 version of Lexus safety sense or whatever they call it. The GS has a version that will keep you in your lane by ping-ponging you between the two lane lines, but not the version of it that will keep you centered in the lane. This never seemed like it would be a great feature until I actually tried it. It’s great for a highway commute
Well, unfortunately, for a replacement luxury sedan that is reliable, I don’t have any other suggestions: Lexus or bust. You may have to compromise someplace, unless you want to lease then the options open up.
