Scion TC opinions

I was thinking of purchasing a Scion TC and I'm confused with some people saying that it's an Oil Burner.

I'm aware of the Corolla with a 2AZ-FE that burns oil.

There have been complaints of this engine "burning oil" in North America, with the issue starting after 45,000 miles (72,000 km), though mostly after 60,000–75,000 miles (97,000–121,000 km). Piston ring design has been identified as a potential problem. Toyota has issued a TSB (Technical service bulletin) TSB #0094-11 in August 2011 but has not issued a recall. Alternative theories point to a head gasket problem: the 2AZ-FE aluminum block threads may wear out on the back three middle bolts (closest to firewall).

However, I'm not sure if the Scion TC has this same engine or if some models have the 2.5 L 2AR-FE?

My question is regardless of the engine...is a Scion TC worth it or can it be a mistake in buying this car?

It's just a Toyota with a different label. There should be a sticker in the engine compartment saying what kind of engine it has.

I'm aware of that. In your opinion, is it worth buying a scion tc?

It depends on what you want. It doesn't seem to me to be substantially different than a Toyota, so the same good points and cautions apply. Maybe you can get a bit better deal on them since the brand is no longer around.

They're good cars. I have an 05 and yeah it burns oil but otherwise it's solid. I've used oil additives to slow it down quite a bit.
Use it to your advantage and get a good deal on it because of the oil burning.

What attracted you to this vehicle? What are your intended requirements?

Just want something small and nice looking for driving in the big city. Easy parking, cut through traffic, gas mileage, looking kool for the ladies, etc.

It's not the greatest gas mileage for a 4cylinder to be honest
